WHAT CAN YOU RECYCLE?

All TASSIMO products are recyclable either via the Terracycle TASSIMO Recycling Program, via Kerbside collection or your local recycling centre. The products can be recycled these ways:

  1. The T DISCs (TASSIMO pods) of all types and sized and the T DISC wrap packaging can be recycled via TerraCycle collection points.
  2. The dispenser carton is made of paperboard and can be recycled bia kerbside recycling.
  3. See if you can donate your TASSIMO machine or it can be recycled at your local recycling centre.

WHAT HAPPENS WITH THE WASTE?

Once collected, the TASSIMO packaging is given a new life. The TASSIMO pods and wrapping materials are cleaned and melted into hard plastic. This plastic gets remoulded to create new products, such as planters, watering cans, benches or tables. You can buy these sustainable, recycled products via TerraCylce.

RECYCLING FOR CHARITY

The TASSIMO Recycling Program supports charity. By recycling your TASSIMO products via TerraCycle, the Hub and Spoke location will receive points for the amount of waste dropped off. The administrator can then donate these points to a charity of their choice.

FAQS

What happens to my used pods?

After collection, the coffee pods are taken to a specialist reprocessing plant in the UK to separate the packaging from the used coffee grounds. The coffee grounds are used to create soil improver and renewable energy. The plastic and aluminium will be transformed into new products such as beverage cans or plastic garden furniture.

Where will the pods be processed and recycled?

Aluminium pods will be reprocessed at Tandom Metallurgical Group Ltd. in Congleton, near Stoke-on-Trent. Plastic pods will be reprocessed by Roydon in Swinton, near Manchester.
Are the bags recycled as part of this journey?
Recycling bags are recovered and used to create energy.

How do I get hold of recycling bags for drop off?

The bags for Drop Off are available via participating brand websites, and we hope to have them available in supermarkets soon.
Where is my nearest Collect+ drop location?
You can find your nearest Collect+ drop location here.

I don’t have a printer to print a label at home – what should I do?

If you don't have a printer, select the Print in Store option when arranging a label. You will be emailed a barcode, present the barcode to the store assistant using your mobile device. They will print the label for you for FREE.
You can generate a barcode to return your Aluminium pods bag here, or your Plastic pods bag here.

How many used pods will fit into the recycling bags?

The quantity of pods will depend on the brand of pods you use.
Please fill the recycling bag to the dotted line, ensuring used pods are drained of any liquid.

I use 2 different branded pods; can they go in the same recycling bag?

You can put any participating brand’s pods in the appropriate bag.
The teal-coloured bag marked P is for plastic coffee pods or the white bag marked A is for aluminium coffee pods.
If you use both aluminium and plastic pods you cannot put them in the same bag, you will need to use separate bags. This is so they can be sent to the correct reprocessing facility.
