Descaling TASSIMO Machines

Give your TASSIMO machine the attention it deserves. Learn how to remove natural mineral buildup from regular use to keep your brewer in top shape.

Follow these 10 easy steps to descale your machine.

Fill up the water tank to the fill line and add two descaling tablets. Set aside until tablets have dissolved.

Remove the Service T DISC (yellow) from the machine and place it barcode side-down in the brewhead where you normally put coffee pods.

Return the water tank full of descaling solution to the machine.

Remove the cup stand and place an empty container that can hold at least 500 ml.

Push and hold the start/stop button for 5 seconds. Descaling will start automatically and take about 30 minutes. The cycle is complete once the orange light turns on.

Empty the container of used descaling solution and place it back under the drink dispenser.

Rinse out the water tank and refill with fresh water to the fill line. Place it back in the machine.

Press the start/stop button quickly to run a cleaning cycle. Repeat steps 6-8 around 3-4 times to ensure all descaling solution has been flushed from the machine.

Once completed, open the brew head and remove the yellow Service T DISC and return it to the machine's storage compartment.

Refill the water tank with fresh, cool water and place it back into your machine. It is now ready for use.

Benefits of descaling

Many appliances are susceptible to limescale build-up that can cause damage if untreated. Completing regular descaling cycles can keep residue and mineral deposits to a minimum, which increases your machine's lifespan and keeps it running smoothly to produce the best quality beverages.

When to descale

When it's time for a cleaning, you'll see the red descale indicator light turn on or start flashing. It looks like either a spray icon or it says 'calc'. A full descaling cycle takes about 30 minutes and should be done about 4 times per year for optimal machine performance.

How to use TASSIMO descaling tablets

Each cycle requires two descaling tablets dissolved in the water tank. TASSIMO recommends using only the official TASSIMO by Bosch descaling tablets, which are designed specifically for TASSIMO machines. Using alternatives like vinegar or acid-based descalers can damage your machine and affect the taste of your drinks. Be sure to comlpete each step above when descaling.
